Company Information
Design to Finish General Contracting, Inc. is a well-respected General Contracting company experiencing rapid growth and looking to fill an immediate opening for a Cost Estimator in our office in Somers, CT. This individual will need to not only have the abilities listed below but also the leadership skills and motivation to spearhead and re-develop our existing Estimating Department.
Education and Experience
BS/BA in Construction Management, Engineering Technology or Engineering is preferred and/or 5+ years of estimating experience with a commercial General Contractor.
Position Description and Requirements
Commercial Cost Estimator for new construction and renovation. Estimate all general construction job costs, including labor, material, equipment and specialty items necessary to complete the project. Develop scope, prepare bid packages, solicit, analyze and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals. Prepare RFIs as necessary to gain clarification for resolution of questions or ambiguities in contract documents. Ensure adequate sub/supplier coverage and participate in bid day closeout. Provide updated information necessary to maintain subcontractor databases. Provide input as requested for pre-bid project schedules and technical proposals. Some pre-bid travel is required. In addition to the above, candidate must have the following: |

Working knowledge and comprehension of blueprints and plans; |
|
Ability to take off drawings and specifications and accurately prepare estimates and quote documents; |
|
Extensive knowledge of construction principles; |
|
Ability to make cold calls, be self-motivated and a demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of an |
| |
organization; |
|
Strong Computer and communication skills required. Timberline Software knowledge a plus; |
|
A proven ability to bid multiple projects at once. | |
